My driveway gate motor was acting up recently, where when I pressed the button on the remote the gate would not open. I have a Centurion D3 motor running the gate and I believe this model has been discontinued.
Symptom:
When pressing the remote for the gate the gate doesn't open or it staggers while opening or it opens very slowly and stops. When you press the remote button you can hear the motor unit clicking, this means that the circuit has received the remote signal and tries to engage the motor.
Problem:
The slow blow fuse could be gone or the battery could be dead.
Solution:
Open the housing cover. Check if the slow blow fuse is blown, also check if the other fuses are gone as well.
If the fuses are ok then the problem is the battery. The motor itself runs of the battery and not the power supply. Test the battery with a multi meter to check if it's holding its charge. If it's not then replace the battery, it's about R130. If you have an alarm system in your house then take the battery out of the alarm system and connect it to the gate motor, they usually use the same battery, which is a 12v battery. Remember to disconnect the main power before swapping the battery. Then test if the gate opens properly.
